Benefit party by: Julie from Melbourne, FL
The kids were totally into the benefit birthday idea and this was one of the most fun birthday parties we have ever had or been to. Most donations were between $5 and $25 and together the kids raised over $300 for the Make-a-wish foundation. Make a wish was so moved they contacted the paper and took her picture for the local paper. Our family will definitely party it forward again.
Here’s the invitation poem:
It’s A Benefit Birthday Party!
Please help us celebrate a very joyous day
Mady turns seven, so it’s time to shout hooray!
You are being invited as a very special guest,
And this poem is designed to make one request.
Mady is special, as everyone knows,
And her kindness and sweetness everyday grows.
When asked what gift would you like to have this year?,
Her response was swift and brought my eyes to tears…
“To give to others,” was her simple reply,
“So toys and gifts, you don’t have to buy”.
The joy of giving a wish is her humble request,
To a child who needs something more than the rest.
Nothing would give Mady more joy
Than fulfilling a “Make–a-wish” for a little girl or boy.
She respectfully requests that you join her today,
To celebrate in a special and unique way.
To “Make-a-Wish” your gift should say
And together we can celebrate Mady’s Birthday.
Although gifts are not expected and always appreciated, if you would like to join us in this benefit birthday party, please consider bringing a donation IN LIEU of a gift made payable to the “Make-a-Wish Foundation”; an organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
